The minister added , " there are three major projects adopted by the ministry at present. The first project is social housing project, which is one of the most important programs adopted by the government .We have a quarter of one million units now, whether implemented or under construction, in all governorates and new cities. We do not only talk about residential units, but also  we talk about a full-service civilized residential community having markets, schools and health units. The state pays the cost of construction and utilities as well as providing  a financial support (between 5 and 25 thousand pounds) to the beneficiaries. "

Dr. Mustafa added ," the second project is drinking water and sanitation, .We have as a government program for this sector which will be presented to the parliament. This program aims at finishing all outstanding water projects so that all areas can be  covered all over Egypt  within 3 years .As for sanitation ,all  urban areas will be  completely  covered  and from 15% in rural areas to 50% ."

Dr. Mustafa said ,"the third project is  developing  unsafe slums and nests . We aim at finishing this project in three years. These areas need about 150 thousand housing units all over Egypt ."

Dr. Mustafa added , "  we have signed 6 Sharm El-Sheikh memorandums of understanding .  We have succeeded in converting 3 memorandums to   contracts. Investors received land  and began designs. Investment in this project IS more than 100 billion pounds. Two memorandums of understanding  are going to be signed soon  with investments of 60 billion pounds . "

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly said,  " the ministry, represented by New Urban Communities Authority, involved  a pavilion at  Cairo ICT held on December 13-16. "

The Minister said ,  "New Urban Communities Authority pursues the best scientific and technological means to create competitive  new urban communities through the gradual shift  of new cities into smart sustainable cities  relying  on information and communication technology  in managing cities and providing services to citizens in a very civilized way depending on transparency and aims at the separation of the service provider from the applicant. New Urban Communities Authority also aims at creating new cities planned and implemented according to smart and sustainable cities standards, such as New Alamein, East Port Said, New Toshka and  the New Capital of Egypt ."

Dr. Mustafa also added ," New Urban Communities Authority has made great efforts in transforming  to electronic systems.  A great electronic linking network has been implemented to link 24 cities authorities to New Urban Communities Authority and the Ministry of Housing  for exchanging information and continuing follow-up of service performance . Technological service centers have also been implemented at 13 new cities providing  one-stop service offering more than 100 services  to citizens and issuing periodic reports to measure the level of services performance."

Engineer Iman Nabil, the manager of the information technology center of the New Urban Communities Authority said , " SMS service is being currently activated so that  citizens can follow the level of service performance. In addition ,  a website  is being  launched  to serve the citizens, and through which you can apply for services at homes without having to go to the city authority or the service center."

Engineer Iman added, "electronic payment system has been activated  so that citizens can pay service fees and land premiums through any bank branch inside Egypt  in addition to VISA and ATM cards. Eelectronic surveillance cameras have been run  in Sheikh Zayed City and they are under running  at the rest of the cities ."

She  said , " for the first time in Egypt a website has been launched  ( "Home House" project website) "www.nuca.gov.eg", which allows citizens living abroad choose and allocate their own plot. Choosing finishing models for the plots   has been made available for the winners of Dar Misr medium housing project  through the website ."

She added , "In the field of renewable energy and sustainable cities , 6 solar power plants have been implemented in new cities, and other 3 plants are being implemented. These plants are being  managed and followed up electronically. Solar heaters have been run at 14 social housing buildings and other 12 are being run ."

Engineer Iman added,  " New Urban Communities Authority tries  hard to take advantage of renewable energy technology in order to run green sustainable urban communities. In this field, the  Environmental Cultural Center has been established in Sheikh Zayed City inside an environmental garden on an area of ​​2500 m2."
