1- Location

It was established by presidential decree (325/1995). It lies along Km 37 Cairo – Ismailia desert road.

2- General plan

The total area of the city  is 16.11 thousand acres of which 9200 acres are an urban community   (Residential areas - services - tourism and recreation ....)  

3- Housing sector

The total number of  housing units is  26 thousand   implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority ( medium housing-  economical housing – youth housing )

- under construction currently 4416 for social housing , 4032 medium housing .

- in addition to 13 thousand housing plots with different levels ( villas – buildings – domestic housing ) .  

Population:

Current   :  170 thousand  inhabitants

Target     :  500  thousand  inhabitants in 2017

4- Services sector

The number of  service buildings implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority is 48:

14  educational  buildings

9  hospitals and health centers

8  commercial  services

9 sports halls & halls

13  social services

2   communication centers

9    public services

In addition to ( 4 private universities – Shorouk Academy – 9 private schools-nursery schools- markets and business centers – bakeries - 6 banks ) have been  implemented  by private sector.

5- Utilities and infrastructure sector

Drinking water:

-The city is fed by 10th Ramadan plants  .

- A drinking water line (1400 mm) from 10th Ramadan plant to the city is being finished to increase the capacity of drinking water in the city .

- A drinking water line (1000 mm) from  Al Obour  plant to the city has been implemented

- Length of finished networks: 853.6 km.

Sanitation:

- Sewage in the city is treated by wastewater treatment plant (Haikstip) with the capacity of 27 thousand m 3 / day .

-The first phase of a  trilogy  treatment plant with the  capacity of 60 thousand m 3 / day  has been implemented .

- Length of finished networks: 587.1  km.

Electricity:

- A transformer station with the capacity of 100 M. F. A has been   finished.

- Length of finished networks: 3371 km

Roads: - Roads networks were implemented with a length of 445.9 km.

    Agriculture: - Total green areas implemented in the city about 450 acres.

     Gas: - Total lengths of gas networks implemented 260 km. Unlike other networks currently under implementation.
