1- Location

It was established by presidential decree (249/1977) and amended by presidential decree (567/1980). It is located on Cairo – Ismailia desert road, 49.3 Km from Cairo.

2- General plan

The total area of the city  is 94.8 thousand acres of which 80  thousand acres are an urban community   (Residential areas - services – industrial -   tourism and recreation ....)

3- Housing sector

-The total number of  housing units is  194133 of which

 26104  implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority

18738 national housing projects

 13922 implemented  by (Housing Financing Fund- Cooperatives- Housing and Development Bank )  and

166501 units + 2918 ( private sector )

7623 units for new social housing projects .

-The number of   service buildings implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority is 268 :

-In addition to 160 buildings implemented  by private sector  .

5- Utilities and infrastructure sector

Drinking water:

- The city is fed with water by 2 purification plants with total capacity of 570 thousand m 3 /   day , wells plant with the capacity of 20 thousand m 3 / day .

- A water purification station with the capacity of 600 thousand m 3 / day is under   construction .

- Length of finished   water networks: 1282.564  km.

- Length of finished   irrigation networks: 113.5  km.

Sanitation:

-  2 aerated oxidization ponds with the capacity of 190 thousand M3/d have been   implemented .

- 3 non aerated ponds with the capacity of 100 thousand m3/day with a total surface of 120 feddans have been implemented to serve heavy industries area .

-Completion of  a mechanical treatment plant with the capacity of 286 thousand m3/d.

- Length of finished networks: 712.23 km

Electricity:

-  9 electric stations with the capacity of   1005  M. F. A   have been  finished.

- Length of finished networks: 6894 km.

- total 4 dispensers

Roads and communications:

-Length of finished road networks: 695 km.

-Length of finished communication networks 1080 7km.

- 3 new locations for communication centers

- Installation of  MSAN  of 120 thousands

Agriculture:

It includes cultivation of green areas , forestation of roads and a park( 90 acres )

6- Industry sector

-There are 2056  producing factories  with 31.4   billion pounds as an investment capital, with an annual production of 34.7  billion pounds which  provided 353656  jobs paying 18.3  million pounds annually.

-There are 1083 factories under construction  with an investment capital of 1028  million pounds and an annual production value  of 2.70  billion pounds which will provide 5374  jobs paying  55.5  million pounds annually.

- Utilities sector           : 13.9    billion pounds
