1-Location   

It was established by Cabinet decree (278/1986)  . Work in it  began actually in 1991 and the cordon of the city was modified by  Presidential Decree ( 392 / 2004 ). . It lies north east of the Nile .It is 250  Km far from  Cairo.

2- General plan

The total area of the city  is 24.6 thousand acres and built up area is 6.5 thousand acres   (Residential areas - services – industrial - tourism and recreation ....) 

3- Housing sector

The total number of  housing units is  41544 thousand  of which

22722 implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority  and

18822  implemented by private sector.

5- Utilities and infrastructure sector

Drinking water:

-A wells plant with the capacity of 10 thousand m3 / day has been implemented .

-2 pumping plants have been implemented.

- A well desalination plant   with the capacity of 10 thousand m3 / day has been implemented.

-A high tank with the capacity of 1000 m3 / day has been implemented.

- The first phase of a purification plant with the   capacity of 45 thousand m3 / day has been  implemented.

-An   upper  tank with the capacity of 3000 m3 / day has been implemented.

- Length of finished networks: 269.613 km.

Sanitation:

-Oxidation ponds with the  capacity of 9.6 thousand m3 / day has been  implemented.

-The first and the second  phases  of  a treatment plant with the  capacity of 60 thousand m3 / day is being  implemented .

-4 pumping plants have been implemented and another two   is  being  implemented .

-Length of finished networks: 250.044 km.

Electricity:

-The first phase of  a transformer station with the capacity of 50 M. F. A has been  finished and can be extended to 100 MFA.

-6th district , clubs area , Build your own house areas  and extension area networks are being implemented .

-Length of finished networks: 1567.5 km.

Roads and communications:

-Length of finished road networks: 194.75 km.

-Length of finished communication networks: 561 km.

Agriculture:

It includes cultivation of green areas and forestation of roads ( 65 acres , 9500 trees ).

6- Industry sector

-There are 59 producing factories   with 109.8 million pounds as an investment capital, with an annual production of 177.5 million pounds which  provided 1497 jobs paying 7 million pounds annually.

- factories under construction 68  factories   with 372.5 million pounds as an investment capital, with an annual production of 548.4 million pounds which  provided 950 jobs paying 12.3 million pounds annually

4673  million pounds including:
