1- Location 

It was established by Cabinet decree (546/1980).It is located along the Mediterranean Sea and it is 4.5  Km far from New Damietta Port.

2- General plan

The total area of ​​the city  is 6500 acres which is built up area (Residential areas - services -  industrial -tourism and recreation ....) .

Population:

Current   :  150 thousand  inhabitants

Current target :171 thousand

Target     :  500  thousand  inhabitants

3- Housing sector

- The total number of  housing units is  44684 of which 16448 (6114 youth housing -3010 low and economic housing – 1790 medium housing – 404 above medium housing – 5100 national housing )    implemented  by New Urban Communities Authority and 30500  implemented by private sector.

- 303 buildings (7272 ) housing units are being implemented by Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces .

5- Utilities and infrastructure sector
Drinking water:

-The city is fed with drinking water  by the  purification plant with the  capacity of 86 thousand m3 / day as the first phase .

The second phase of the plant is being implemented so that the capacity can be 172 m3 / day. 

Length of finished networks:  604 km.

Sanitation :

-2  mixed  treatment plants with the  capacity of 1.9 thousand m3 / day have been  implemented .

-The  first phase of a treatment plant with the  capacity of 50 thousand m3 / day has been implemented. 

-Length of finished networks: 452 km.

Electricity :

-3 transformer stations with the  capacity of 165 M.F.A have been  finished.

-Length of finished networks: 2152.6 km.

Roads and communications:

-Length of finished road networks: 504 km.
-Length of finished communication networks: 199 km.

Agriculture

One million m2 green areas have been  cultivated  in addition to the central park ( 55 acres ) in the centre of the city .

6- Industry sector

- There are 510 producing factories with an investment capital of 682 million pounds and an annual production  value  of 381 million pounds which provided 13000  jobs paying 156 million pounds annually.

-There are 97 factories under construction   with 115 million pounds as an investment capital which   will provide 3190 jobs paying 26 million pounds annually.
